Position Summary:

The Compliance Systems team is responsible for providing solutions that meet our guideline monitoring obligations. This is a critical function for the investment and trading process to protect the firm from investment errors. In addition, the regulatory environment is under constant pressure and this team provides solutions that ensure the firm is compliant and able to respond quickly to a regulator’s request. Members of the team play critical roles in our firm’s success by providing technology solutions which improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of a highly complex industry with a sophisticated client base. It is our strong belief that the tools developed by the Compliance Systems team differentiate us from our competitors in the financial industry.


• Oversight of the technical design, build, implementation, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of the complex applications used by the firm’s Guideline Monitoring and Portfolio Monitoring teams

• Partner with Business Analysts to identify and document business requirements for new capabilities. This includes working closely with the Guideline Monitoring business team and managing relationships with business owners.

• Technical analysis of business requirements to provide technical designs, project estimates, and manage technical delivery. The role requires hands-on development, problem resolution, knowledge of the software applications and various horizontal and vertical packages - spanning across all layers in the technical stack.

• Partner with in-house application and data architects to implement system requirements

• Team management responsibilities include the recruiting, supervision, and development of staff and consultants.

• Interaction with other IT teams within the firm to ensure effective integration with portfolio management and trading tools

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering subject plus seven (7) years of experience in hands-on software development and delivery experience in a commercial environment.

• 7+ years of experience as a software developer supporting complex application development life cycles

• Very strong command of the Java Platform including an understanding of the concurrent programming concepts and the java memory model is required.

• Demonstrated experience developing Web Applications and Services using JAVA, JAX-RS, Spring, JPA and other related technologies.

• Demonstrated expertise in relational database technologies with strong SQL and Excel skills will be a plus

• Demonstrated experience with XML, JSON, shell scripting and UNIX/Linux

• An understanding of the Cloud based technologies including AWS is a strong plus

• Experience with, and demonstrated understanding of modern software development and DevOps methodologies is a strong plus

• Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal are required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, engineering, sciences, or related field.

• Experience in Financial Industry while not necessary will be a plus

Keys to this Position:

1) We are seeking a Hands-on Technical Lead with 7+ plus years of core Java experience.

2) Technology Stack: Java: Core Java, Spring, Web Services, Multi-threading. Experience with SQL or PL/SQL is a plus.

3) Strong Technical Leadership experience is required. This individual will be a hands-on programmer while directing a number of other members of the team on Architecture and implementation . 4) Excellent Communication skills are required.
